Real Life Monsters - Columbus

Don't say Happy Columbus Day until you learn the real story behind this despicable excuse for a human being. Here's an excellent article describing the atrocities he committed in his lust for gold and treasure. I'll wait while you go read it.

As suggested by the author of the article, let's celebrate Bartolemè Day instead. A contemporary of Columbus, Bartolemè de Las Casas started his sojourn in the new world with a plantation worked by slaves, but somehow or other his conscience caught up with him and he spent the rest of his life working for the freedom of the people he had formerly enslaved.

Happy Bartolemè Day!
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!
